Every year, between September 15 and October 15, American across the country celebrate the cultures, histories, achievements and contributions of Hispanics. Hispanics are defined as having ancestors from Spanish speaking countries, primarily in Latin America. The observation began as a single week under the presidency of Lyndon Johnson in 1968.
